Ground Beef From Cargill Meat Solutions Ecoli Identification Fermentation

US/Washington: Cargill Meat Solutions, a Fort Morgan, Colorado establishment, recalls an estimated 25,288 pounds of Excel 93/7 labeled Ground Beef Products due to suspected risk of Escherichia coli ("E.coli") contamination and consequential risk of Gram-negative bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

The United States Department of Agriculture ("USDA") reports the following Ground Beef products are subject to this recall:

• Excel 93/7 Fine Grind Ground Beef, sold in 10-pound chubs with a "use/brz.-by" dates of "Sep 05" on the chub label and a "pack date 08/16/2018" on the box label.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the USDA, the products subject to recall bear establishment number "EST. 86R" inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to warehouses in California and Colorado.

The problem was discovered on August 22 by Cargill Meat when it reviewed its records and determined that the product may be associated with product that was presumptive positive for E. coli O157:H7. The company then notified US Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service ("FSIS"). There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.
